George Shaw

Artist & Honorary Fellow (2023)
<p dir="ltr">Artist George Shaw was born in Coventry in 1966 and lives and works in Devon. He graduated from Sheffield Polytechnic in 1989 and the Royal College of Art, London in 1998. He has worked in medical illustration and as a school teacher.</p> <p dir="ltr">George was nominated for the Turner prize in 2011 and a Sky Arts Award in 2017. He was the Associate Artist at the National Gallery in London from 2014 to 2016. In 2018 he had a retrospective exhibition of his work at the Yale Centre for British Art in New Haven in the United States, which toured to the Holburne Museum in Bath in 2019.</p> <p dir="ltr">Over the last twenty-five years George has exhibited extensively, most recently in the UK at The Box in Plymouth, as well as internationally from Taiwan to Canada. <br /></p> <p dir="ltr">George Shaw was awarded an Honorary Fellowship by Arts University Plymouth in 2023.</p>
