We want to find out about your creative potential, your abilities and your interests, which is why we invite candidates to attend an interview on campus and to show a portfolio or showreel of work.
We’re looking for students who want to succeed, work hard and who’ll be committed to the course, as well as for evidence of subject knowledge in the area you’re looking to study. This could be shown through your research into artists, designers, makers and their work.
Treat it as a chance to tell us about your aspirations, and why you want to study at the college. It is also a good moment to find out what we can offer you.
Our interview weeks are w/c 11 December 2017, 22 January and 5 February 2018, don’t forget that your interview is a chance for you to ask questions, as well as answer them.
You may want to do some basic research on our website about the course you’re applying for before arriving and make note of any questions that you might have. We’ve given you a few examples below, but feel free to ask anything that you’re curious about!
1. What opportunities are there for working directly with industry?
2. How many contact hours (direct face to face time with a tutor) will there be?
3. What types of employment have alumni gone into after this course?
4. What costs can I expect during the course?
5. Is there any reading I should do before the start of the course?
On arrival please head straight for our student ambassadors in the main reception area to register your attendance and be shown to your interview. You’ll be shown to a dedicated waiting space, with light refreshments and the chance to talk to some of our current students. After your interview, you’ll have a tour of the college and our facilities, and the opportunity to ask our support services any questions you may have.
Before you go, you could explore our public gallery - you can see what’s on here - or grab a bite to eat, as there are lots of places to eat within a short walking distance from the college, including our own Refectory café on campus.
Can't make your interview? If you are unable to attend your interview, please call Admissions on 01752 203400 or email email@example.com as soon as possible. We will reschedule your interview as soon as we can for a new time and date. Please let us know in advance if there are any specific dates you will not be available on, and note we do have limited slots available on Saturdays at request.
If you have any questions about travel, parking or staying overnight, please give us a call and we would be happy to help you plan your trip to Plymouth.
And finally… our interviews are relaxed and friendly, so try not to be too nervous! We’re excited to meet you and learn about your creativity, so remember to bring your portfolio or showreel.
