UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Fashion & Textiles graduate Billie Jacobina has just debuted her latest collection at London Fashion Week 2017.
London Fashion Week is one of the world’s highest profile designer showcases and takes place in February and September of each year.
Billie’s “extreme, but wearable” aesthetic garnered huge support at the show from the likes of Spindle Magazine, Noctis Magazine, Phoenix Magazine, VOGUE and FEMME, teamed with an award win of Fashion Scout’s One to Watch and a four-page feature in Debut Magazine UK’s Self Love Issue.
“A concoction of all things pink and kitsch, Jacobina’s collection celebrates femininity, multiculturalism and originality. From the balloon animal crowns to the furry pink mules and unicorn earrings, the collection is a feel good injection much needed during the rush of LFW.” — Debut Magazine UK
“Elongated oversized silhouettes with peek-a-boo slits and cheeky cropped pieces had frills on almost anything that frills can go on… combinations were endless and words just can’t do this collection justice.” — Subvrt Magazine
“Billie Jacobina is a colour queen – a bold fashion force with collections that have a creative, joyful feel.” — The Glass Pineapple
“She has quickly risen through the ranks to become one of the most exciting designers at London Fashion Week.” — Fashion Scout
“Her flair for designing bold, colourful prints and textures is incredible and has inspired us all to be more creative and daring with our style.” — Wildabout
BA (Hons) Fashion grad, model, blogger and skater Stefani Nurding modelled for Billie alongside other fashion influencers including; Fabienne Hebrard, Miss Brown, Arabella Larssen and Charli Fletcher – to name a few!
Billie Jacobina first became interested in textiles when she attended our Saturday Arts Club aged 11.
A few years later, she chose us for her Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles where she learnt a whole variety of foundations skills that have proven essential in her career as a professional designer.
“Plymouth College of Art really pushed me to get where I am today. When I did my ED here, I learnt all the skills that I still use now and my degree focused on print design so all the technical pattern and sewing skills I learnt are from studying at PCA. It was such a good starting point for me.”
After her ED, Billie was accepted into UCA Rochester and on graduating, she was awarded the prestigious Graduate Fashion Week International Residency Award in Jakarta.
In Indonesia, Billie collaborated on a collection with the Indonesian brand LEKAT, which was subsequently shown at Jakarta Fashion Week.
She has also worked with BEAM Shoes to create a limited edition collection of their quirky light up footwear.
