What is Clearing?
Clearing matches applicants to university places that are yet to be filled. It’s available to anyone who has made a UCAS Undergraduate application and doesn’t hold any offers. Running from 5 July to mid-September, you’ll be eligible for Clearing if:
- you apply after 30 June
- you are not holding any offers from universities or colleges you’ve applied to
- your place is not confirmed after exam results are published
Clearing is an opportunity for those who have missed their conditions or had a last minute change of heart about the university or course they want to study. We have a limited number of places available for courses of creative study starting September 2019, from fashion, film and fine art to graphic design, game arts, and animation. It’s your choice to make.
We'll be accepting Clearing applications from Friday 5 July onwards, but you can get in touch with us at any time if you have questions about Clearing or about studying with us. You can contact our friendly Admissions Team on +44 (0)1752 203402 or email@example.com, and they'll help you make your choice.

Studying in Plymouth
Based in the heart of a culturally thriving coastal city, our campus is a close-knit community of artists, designers and makers – kitted out with both the latest technologies in digital design and world-leading studios in traditional making.
Not sure if you're ready for degree-level study?
If you want to pursue a creative undergraduate degree but have limited experience of hands-on making, or lack the relevant academic qualifications, our Extended Degree programme will prepare you to enter one of our BA (Hons) undergraduate programmes. Find out more here.
If you're just not too sure what to study have you considered our Foundation Diploma? It's an intensive, ten-month course that prepares you for degree study in the creative arts. Find out more here.
If you already have your results or if you are a mature student, we can talk through the options available to you – and whether you could become part of our creative community.
If you're contacting us about your Clearing application, there are a few things we'll need from you:
- UCAS personal ID number, if you've already applied to us through UCAS.
- Clearing number, which will be displayed in UCAS Track.
- Your qualifications and the grades you achieved.
Want to explore our campus? It's not too late - our staff are looking at applicant portfolios throughout the summer and we'd be happy to arrange a meeting for you with one of our Programme Leaders. Contact us on +44 (0)1752 203402 or firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange.
We're open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, throughout the summer if you want to come in and talk to us about making an application; we're also open in August for drop-in Clearing events on the dates below:
- Thursday 15 August 10am-5pm (you can call us from 8am when the phone lines open)
- Friday 16 August from 10am-4pm
- Saturday 17 August from 10am-2pm
These events are drop-in so there's no need to book. They are free and open to all and you are welcome to bring along family, friends or any support you may need on the day.
Our drop-in days will offer support with your UCAS application and you’ll be able to find the answers to any finance questions you may have. You can also find out about our accommodation options and how we can help to kickstart your creative journey.
What we're looking for:
If you're energetic and inquisitive, with a flair for art, craft, design or digital - then we want to hear from you.
We're interested in seeing your work and hearing about your experience. Although many of our students achieve top grades, we don't just look at your results - we want to see your passion and your creativity.
It's your choice to make – let us help you make it.
