What is Clearing?
Clearing matches applicants to university places that are yet to be filled. It’s available to anyone who has made a UCAS Undergraduate application and doesn’t hold any offers. Running from 5 July, you’ll be eligible for Clearing if:
- you apply after 30 June
- you are not holding any offers from universities or colleges you’ve applied to
- your place is not confirmed after exam results are published
Clearing is an opportunity for those who have missed their conditions or had a last minute change of heart about the university or course they want to study. We have a limited number of places available for courses of creative study starting as late as October 2019, from fashion, film and fine art to graphic design, game arts, and animation. It’s your choice to make.
Supporting Late Arrivals
At Plymouth College of Art we are committed to excellence. We know that some students may start with us later than others and we have therefore designed a series of dedicated activities to support a smooth integration into our programmes. Usually, new Undergraduate students are able to enrol with us up to the 21st October 2019 and please contact us if you need more information. We review all later starts on an individual case-by-case basis.
Our dedicated Student Experience and Retention Officer oversees all later starts and works in partnership with our Students’ Union and Admission team to ensure a positive and successful experience. This includes: supporting enrollment, helping with accommodation, timetabling, organising tours, and an introduction to our Students’ Union. They can also suggest great places to eat and the quickest way to find the sea, we’re pretty close!
Importantly, we know that the first few months of study are key to settling into a programme , meeting new people and integrating into the college. As a small specialist arts institution, we are proud that every Wednesday, students from all years and programmes get the opportunity to work together as part of our interdisciplinary Workshop Wednesdays.
Our crit sessions offer friendly and informal ways to share ideas, and our open-access programme baserooms afford a great place to explore one’s practice. With so many people living, making and creating work, one quickly becomes part of our growing community of creative practitioners. If you have any questions about starting a little bit later with us, please contact us on email@example.com or call our friendly Admissions Team on +44 (0)1752 203402.

If you're just not too sure what to study have you considered our Foundation Diploma? It's an intensive, ten-month course that prepares you for degree study in the creative arts. Find out more here.
If you already have your results or if you are a mature student, we can talk through the options available to you – and whether you could become part of our creative community.
If you're contacting us about your Clearing application, there are a few things we'll need from you:
- UCAS personal ID number, if you've already applied to us through UCAS.
- Clearing number, which will be displayed in UCAS Track.
- Your qualifications and the grades you achieved.
We're open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday if you want to come in and talk to us about making an application. You are welcome to bring along family, friends or any support you may need.
