MBM-Glass, which was established this year by BA (Hons) Ceramics and Glass graduate Mim Brigham, has been selected as one of 15 businesses that will represent Cornwall in the craft section of the UK's leading retail trade event for creative lifestyle buyers, Top Drawer.
Held at Olympia, London, Top Drawer is the perfect platform for UK and international lifestyle brands to present new ranges and best sellers in the curated and complementary worlds of home, gift, fashion and craft. With each world showcasing an expert sector edit, this is where the leading brands, designers, suppliers, manufacturers and distributors come to do business with the most successful creative retailers and contract buyers from across the UK and beyond.
In her work Mim Brigham takes inspiration from the Cornish landscape and dramatic scenery to create beautiful glass sculptures. MBM-Glass previously exhibited at The London Design Fair and the Glass Biennale 2017.
“I’m really proud to have been chosen for exhibiting at Top Drawer,” Mim said. “I am impressed with the quality of work selected for the show. I will be exhibiting my new range, Microscopic, which fuses the huge power and majesty of the sea landscapes within tiny microscopic intricacies of plants on our shore. My work is hugely influenced by the natural beauty of Cornwall that surrounds me.”
As a hotbed for cultural organisations, Cornwall boasts a vibrant culture encompassing large-scale festivals, small neighbourhood projects, collaborations, individual craftspeople and artists as well as galleries with international reputations. There is a wealth of support for small businesses available.
One such initiative is the Export for Growth programme, run by Cornwall Chamber of Commerce and funded by the ERDF. MBM-Glass is thrilled to have been selected to receive a bursary from this programme to support attendance at Top Drawer.
