Kicking off our brand new series of Masterclasses at the college is Masterclass: Neon – an intensive, expert-led, one-day introductory workshop into working with neon.
In this Masterclass, you and five other participants will be taught by Neon Workshops – Yorkshire-based specialists in the development and manufacturing of neon lighting – learning everything from transcribing ideas into neon drawings to filling their glass forms with gas.
You'll be taught by worldwide-exhibiting artist Richard William Wheater and, by the end of this unique session, you'll get to take home a piece of neon you have designed and helped make or directed in making.
This Masterclass will provide a great introduction into working with neon. Please note that specialist neon-making requires a level of skill only achieved through many hours of practice. The two tutors will do their best in the short time available to assist you in realising your idea but note that this masterclass should be seen as a 'neon experience day' rather than a 'neon commissioning day'.
