Lecturer - Foundation Diploma in Art and Design
Originally from the South West, Matt Skelley studied at Plymouth College of Art on our Foundation course in the early 2000s, when the course was based at Sutton Annexe on Regent Street.
After completing the Foundation course, Matt went to Cardiff Met (then known as UWIC) for his BA (Hons) Fine Art, staying on at the university to complete an MA in Fine Art in 2006.
Matt remained in Wales to study for his PGCE at Cardiff University, completing it in 2009. Whilst living in Cardiff, Matt also worked as a promoter, running a rock and indie music night in the city.
During his career, Matt has also been a practicing fine artist, and has exhibited his work in cities across the UK including Cardiff, Brighton, Birmingham, Stroud, and Milton Keynes. Matt’s work takes the form of installations, live art, photography and drawing, and he was also part of a group in Cardiff exploring collaborative art making practice.
After completing his PGCE, Matt moved to Newbury College to take up the position of Course Leader for their Extended Diploma in Art & Design. He then moved on to work as Programme Manager for HND and Level 3 Photography and Graphic Design at Milton Keynes College, where he remained for five years, before returning to the South West and to Plymouth College of Art, to take up the role of Lecturer on our UAL Foundation Diploma in Art & Design in 2017. He primarily works with the Fine Art students on this programme, and he also teaches on our UAL Level 3 Extended Diploma in Art & Design.
