Covid-19 (Coronavirus) Update (30 March 2020)
In light of the coronavirus outbreak, our accommodation partners, Host and Clever Student Lets, have been working hard to maintain a safe and secure environment for current and future students. At Plymouth College of Art, our top priority is the safety and wellbeing of our staff, students and visitors, and we are in regular contact with our partners and trusted health authorities to ensure adequate measures are in place.
Current UK Government guidance recommends that any students living in halls of residence, who go on to develop coronavirus symptoms should self-isolate for 7 days. You can read more of the Government’s recommendations for students living in shared accommodation here.
All the staff at Host are working tirelessly to ensure that their dedicated on-site teams and residents are well informed and equipped to deal with any issues that may occur during this unprecedented event.
Their aim is to help reassure students by providing the best level of service possible whilst trying to ensure all students are as comfortable in their homes as they can be given the current restrictions on movement.
Like many other service providers, Host have had to introduce new and very different ways of working in accordance with the latest and updated government and medical advice. This is to help protect residents and staff and has resulted in reduced on-site staffing levels to support physical distancing with more enquiries than usual being handled via email, telephone and the Host residents’ portal.
They have also issued all students with a comprehensive Frequently Asked Questions information pack, which details all their new ways of operating, as well as important and up to date advice on what to do if they are concerned they are experiencing symptoms that could be coronavirus, or think they may have come into contact with some who has coronavirus.
Whether you decide to stay in your accommodation or return home, your booking with Host will remain intact. If you need more information, please email email@example.com to avoid any unnecessary face-to-face contact with reception staff.
In order to safeguard students, landlords and staff Clever Student Lets have taken the decision to close offices to face to face contact. The phone answer machine message reflects this and asks callers to email in any enquiries, with 3 options depending upon the subject of the query.
They will still be attending to maintenance emergencies, but at this time minor repairs will be given low priority. Regular cleaning schedules have ceased in order to preserve isolation, as have all non-essential visits.
They continue to act in accordance with Government guidelines and the staff remaining in their offices are practising social distancing and will also monitor all advice from the Government and Public Health England and adjust policies accordingly.
For all general enquiries, please email firstname.lastname@example.org, for all non-emergency maintenance requests, please email email@example.com and if you’d like to talk about rent or payments, please email firstname.lastname@example.org. See their Facebook page for regular updates.
