Our Technical School* enables students who have successfully completed their Distance Learning first year to seamlessly integrate with the on-campus delivery mode for the second and third year of their January start degree.

The Technical School focuses on introducing students to the physical spaces within the university, as well as the wider setting of the city of Plymouth, and also to meet our community of staff and students face-to-face. The Technical School will also afford students the chance to develop technical skills that they may not have had the opportunity to work on during their first year by using the facilities in our industry-standard workshops and studios.

If you are an international student and you need help and advice regarding accommodation, setting up bank accounts or anything else you may need to have in place before you arrive in Plymouth to start your second year, we can offer support - just get in touch via hello@aup.ac.uk if you have any questions.

The first week of the Technical School will support students in getting to know our academic, technical and professional teams; learning to work safely in our workshops and understanding how our campus functions. This also coincides with Freshers’ Week, where you can meet your fellow students, join societies and enjoy events that will help you get to know the city a little better.

The second week of the Technical School sits alongside our university-wide Induction Week, which sees all second year students return to campus.
