Our Multimedia Lab offers you the kit and expertise to become skilled in a wide range of processes and techniques across the fields of photomedia, moving image and sound.
<p>Our Multimedia Lab offers you the kit and expertise to become skilled in a wide range of processes and techniques across the fields of photomedia, moving image and sound.</p> <p>Hone your collaborative skills in our media studios, consisting of a sound studio for audio production, white and chroma key infinity coves and film and product studios catering for flash and continuous lighting. Our extensive resources will enable you to incorporate still and moving images, including rostrums for stop motion in animation, virtual reality (VR) kit for interactive elements and applications.</p> <p>Our editing suites include a Steenbeck flatbed editing table and a plethora of Mac suites for interactive and VR applications. We also have a black and white darkroom with dedicated loading and film processing rooms, an alternative analogue process darkroom and a specialist scanning darkroom for a wide variety of traditional and new cutting-edge photographic processes.</p>

<p>The Equipment Resource Centre (ERC) is our hub of media resources. Every student has access to over 6,000 items of industry-standard photography, film and audio kit.</p> <p>Resources range from the latest in digital tech to classic analogue equipment within the fields of moving image, sound, photography, gaming, illustration and animation. Our skilled technicians are experts in their field with a broad range of disciplines, they’re on hand to provide advice and give inductions into kit to ensure you have the technology and knowledge you need to make all your projects successful.</p> <p>All equipment can be loaned FREE of charge by staff and students following an induction, and workshops are regularly available so that you can build your technical skills in a wide range of equipment. Our loan system also enables students to take equipment offsite for location and project work.</p> <p>The ERC can supply everything from small-scale digital compact cameras to high-end Nikon DSLRs and industry standard medium format digital backs (Phase one). Analogue camera formats are also available, supporting 35mm, 6x6, 6x4.5, 6x7, 5x4 and 10x8.</p> <p>The ERC stocks a wide range of lighting equipment, from Tungsten to flash, with a broad range of attachments and portable lighting available.</p> <p>With regards to moving image the ERC provides video equipment catering for 3 chip mini DV, Sony Z1 HD cameras to Arri SR2 super 16mm, super 8mm and 8mm Bolex cameras. Associated accessories such as cranes, dolly &amp; dolly tracking and glide steady cam support systems are also readily available. </p>
