Longer days are creeping in, the sun is starting to shine brighter and Spring is just around the corner. March is already looking like a busy month in Plymouth, so we wanted to highlight some of the exciting events happening around the city so you don’t miss a thing.

Take your Autodesk Fusion 360 skills to the next level and enhance your career potential. Hosted by Fab Lab Plymouth, this intensive three days training (every Wednesday from 2 to 16 March 2022) will prepare you for the Autodesk Fusion 360 Certified User exam. This training is perfect for those with prior hands-on experience of Fusion 360 and you’ll get a fully rounded understanding of the core design principles of the software, allowing you to prove your competency at an industry entry level.
Join our BA (Hons) Interior Design & Styling students at the Future Design Show, where a range of national design companies from Porta Romana and Fermoie to Tektura and Organoid Technologies will be showcasing flooring, fabrics, lighting, furniture and more. Future Design Show is sponsored by ViSpring and all guests will be able to admire one of their latest product releases on display - a headboard design by 2021 graduate Phoebe Leader.
Devcon returns to Plymouth Guildhall in 2022, featuring special guests from film, television and comic books, graphic novel artists and writers, over 70 traders, cosplay competitions, a dedicated cosplay area, photography and masquerade, an interactive gaming section, panels, Q&A sessions and so much more.
Released to coincide with International Women’s Day, take a journey through the life of a true icon, discover her art and uncover the truth behind her often turbulent life. This personal and intimate film, shot extensively in Mexico City, including at Kahlo’s home The Blue House, offers privileged access to Kahlo’s works, and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience and her unmatched lust for life, politics, men and women.
Get your headphones on for a very special silent disco underneath The Box’s Royal Naval figureheads. Two DJs will be battling it out, playing different styles of music. Grab your friends, select your channel and dance the night away. This is an 18+ event and drink promotions will be available in The Box Kitchen & Bar throughout the evening.
As one of two artists selected for The South West Showcase, Huhtamaki Wab presents ‘Yonaoshi’, a solo exhibition exploring world renewal. Featuring paintings, textiles and sculpture, and at a time in which society lives with a constant threat of ecological collapse, the concept of ‘world renewal’ is increasingly present. Wab explores our relationship to the idea of world renewal throughout the exhibition, taking imagery from Edo woodblock prints and our relationship with the more-than-human as a starting point.
Plymouth College of Art will host Melting Pot: Hot Glass Gathering, as part of the UK’s national celebrations for the United Nations-designated International Year of Glass. Melting Pot will bring together live-streamed and in-person hot-glass demonstrations and lectures, featuring artists and studios including Elliot Walker, this year’s UK-based winner of the Netflix series ‘Blown Away’, Wave Glass in Murano Italy and Blowfish Glass founder Bethany Wood, as well as regional collaborations with the Contemporary Glass Society and Teign Valley Glass to name a few.
Taking place at Leadworks, ‘Real and Unreal’ features the works of six emerging artists, and BA (Hons) Fine Art students. The exhibition includes interactive art, print and installations that touch on fiction, heterotopias, memory, witchcraft and the senses. Free and open to the public.
