I want the workforce of tomorrow to walk into the centre and know that we celebrate diversity and inclusion and to feel inspired and motivated to work here.
Kerry Dungay, Medical Education Manager and Chair of the Women’s Network at University Hospitals Plymouth

Kerry Dungay, Medical Education Manager and Chair of the Women’s Network at University Hospitals Plymouth said: “For many of the artists from beginners to professionals, including NHS staff who have expressed their experiences, it’s been more than just the art itself.

“For them, it’s been about the creative journey which has been very cathartic for people. It’s been a human journey and the artworks you will see reflect that human story.

“The end result is we are able to put these expressions of peoples’ experiences for everyone to view; to bring everyone together around something beautiful and positive after such a tough couple of years.

“In addition, historically medicine has been white male orientated and the paintings we display in our centre reflect that. We wanted to share art which inspires and motivates, and which demonstrates the width and breadth of diversity in the NHS, not just in ethnic background and gender, but also in peoples’ roles and the roles they play in the NHS.

“I want the workforce of tomorrow to walk into the centre and know that we celebrate diversity and inclusion and to feel inspired and motivated to work here.”
