Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, Marcus moved to Plymouth to study a BA (Hons) in Painting, Drawing & Printmaking at Plymouth College of Art in 2015. Through his undergraduate studies, Marcus’ art practice expanded into exploring a wide range of mixed mediums with a focus on the human figure. After graduating, Marcus progressed onto MA Painting, choosing to use his practice as a research tool to investigate the representation of masculinity.
After graduating from his MA, Marcus gained an internship working for the British Council in Venice, during the art Biennale. This was an enriching experience that further fueled his interest in creative events, teaching and creating art. On his return from Venice, Marcus gained full-time employment at Plymouth College of Art working as the Recruitment & Events Intern. He supports applicants with the student recruitment journey, providing advice, guidance and support for students who wish to progress onto creative education through FE and HE. This role also allows Marcus to support a variety of outreach activities and projects such as Careers Fairs, Progression Events, delivering creative workshops, talks and presentations to schools and colleges, both regionally and nationally.
