How your fee is spent

At Plymouth College of Art, we're open with our students and are clear with them how their tuition fee is spent.

A large proportion – almost one third – of a BA (Hons) student's £9,000 fee is spent on teaching, while an additional 10% is spent on Learning and Teaching Resources.

We also invest heavily into the college campus, equipment and facilities – 11% of our total expenditure – which our students get first hand benefit from through the use of these industry standard facilities, kit, and space.

Another 11% goes straight back in to the pockets of our students through our Bursaries, while 19% is spent on Administration and Management costs, which includes our range of student support services – such as counselling, accommodation support, and more.

ICT takes up 6% expenditure of a fee, 5% on our contribution to future capital investment, and 2% on interest – on a loan used for our new £8m Craft, Design and Fabrication Workshops.

And 6% is spent on Communications – helping to promote our students achievements, advertising and running events such as our annual Summer Show and our Graduation Ceremony, and arts outreach programmes.

We hope that through being open and honest about how tuition fees are spent, we can continue to maintain a strong relationship with our students.
