Principal, Professor Andrew Brewerton is set to speak on the Design in Education panel event at Clerkenwell Design Week 2017 (CDW) in May.
Celebrating its 8th year in May 2017, the award-winning CDW has firmly established itself as the UK’s leading independent design festival and annually attracts the international design community to this small area of London for three days of exciting events. In 2016, the design community flocked to Clerkenwell with 34,973 attendees and over 300 exhibiting brands.
Clerkenwell Design Week’s programmed series of talks, discussion and debates have become a world-class arena in which to introduce and discuss new products, raise industry issues and network with fellow A&D professionals.
Sharing his experience of establishing the college’s free school Plymouth School of Creative Arts – housed in the award-winning Red House and endorsed by Sir Nicholas Serota as “a historic event in the history of education in this country” – Professor Andrew Brewerton will be discussing our radical and progressive continuum of creative learning and practice.
His fellow panellists will be Barber & Osgerby's Jay Osgerby and the Creative Director of the Crafts Council, Annie Warburton. Also joining the panel will be Jade Ilke, award-winning entrepreneur, who is behind the Designing Futures initiative aimed at getting more young people into the creative industries. Design journalist Katie Treggiden will be hosting the panel.
The event will take place at Milliken's Clerkenwell showroom at 6pm on Tuesday 23 May 2017.
