Second-year students from our BA (Hons) 3D Design Crafts, BA (Hons) Jewellery and BA (Hons) Ceramics & Glass programmes will be exhibiting large-scale site-specific work in the Formal Garden and grounds at Mount Edgcumbe that responds to narratives connected to the house and grounds.
Students worked to a live brief from the team at Mount Edgcumbe, undertaking research into the popular country park from a variety of perspectives, before presenting their initial ideas and developing them further into the pieces you'll see in the exhibition.
There will be numerous individual responses to the brief made in a variety of media located around the grounds including large-scale heraldic metal earrings, a digitally generated daybed made from cardboard and fabric and a knitted lichen landscape - to name a few.
This is the first time our second-year students have collaborated on a project at Mount Edgcumbe, with the work acting as a reflection of the students' experiences of Mount Edgcumbe and ultimately to communicate that experience to visitors who will engage with their work in the grounds.
Join us in celebrating their work at the opening on Friday 4 May 3-5pm.
We'd like to thank David Marshall and the gardeners at Mount Edgcumbe for this opportunity.
