Our January Start BA (Hons) degrees allow students to study flexibly at home under our distance learning programme for their first year, progressing into on-campus study at Plymouth College of Art for their second and third years.

With space to create using both traditional and contemporary techniques and facilities, our Crafts courses are housed in our £8m Craft, Design and Fabrication workshops, including our Fab Lab, our Glass-blowing house, our open plan Ceramics space, our Metals workshop, and our Plaster room.

Working with industry experts and world-renowned brands, our fashion, costume and textiles courses cover everything from designing and creating fabrics, to whole fashion collections or costumes for film and performance, through to styling, shooting and promoting brands. We create independently-minded thinkers and makers who are looking to influence change within the fashion industry.

From studying photography as a contemporary art practice, to making films, soundscapes and animations, you will explore the craft and aesthetics of these subjects guided by industry professionals in fully equipped studios and workshops.

To produce meaningful design, whether it be an environment, product, service, or performance, requires a designer to balance and creatively reinvent the social interface between maker and end-user. Whilst good design shows how form solves problems or conveys complexity in beautiful ways, it simultaneously fosters a way of thinking about our world as a shared experience.

Plymouth College of Art’s Young Arts programme was established in 1988. Young Arts feature the colleges’ renowned Saturday Arts Clubs and for over 30 years has worked to bridge the gap in arts provision for young people created by increasingly limited access to creative activity in schools.
