10 week Digital Photography for Improvers (Jan 2020) — Overview
By the end of the course, you will be familiar with shooting in full manual mode, downloading and saving files effectively, editing basically using Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop and taking images to print. You will also be developing basic lighting skills, gain experience of shooting with models and on location and exploring composition.

Course Content
Week 1 - 2
Welcome presentation, assignment briefing, looking at inspirational images and Camera Raw refresher.
Week 3 - 4
Intermediate digital black and white techniques. Print output refresher. Location techniques and student portfolio/imagery critique session and Adobe Photoshop development.
Week 5 - 6
Portraiture with studio flash techniques. Still life with flash techniques. Studio practical open workshop.
Week 7 - 8
Open session and image development/critique
Week 9 - 10
Group critique/presentation of final images

Entry Requirements
You will have basic camera and Adobe Photoshop skills. Please see our Beginner Digital Photography and Beginner Adobe Photoshop course pages for guidance on skills and techniques required in order to progress to the Improver level.
Materials and Equipment
Cameras and all photographic equipment will be provided. Please bring a notebook pen and a memory stick (8GB minimum) to each session.
Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
