Aimed at confident beginners and intermediate learners, this course introduces students to the domestic knitting machine and its many possibilities and key functions. End Time: 21:00
Start Date: 20/09/17
End Date: 29/11/17

Course Content

Starting off with basic machine operation, students will first learn about casting on and off, adjusting the tension dial and increasing and decreasing stitches. These skills are then applied to a myriad of techniques including creating ladders, lace, e-wrapping, cables, mock-ribs and fair isle. The course will also cover the basics of interpreting knitting patterns, the importance of checking your gauge, knitting resources, machine maintenance, yarn types and fibres and tips for purchasing knitting machines and machine knitting yarns. Materials and Equipment
Demonstration or materials for experimentation will be provided free of charge but you may be required to purchase your own materials in order to complete your personal creative projects. It is advised to bring a folder to gather handouts and samples in, as well as pen and paper to take notes.
