Printed Textile Design for Beginners — Overview
In this experimental 10 week course where you will learn basic printed textile design and surface pattern techniques. You will be encouraged to design and develop a personal collection of designs on fabric using a variety of processes. Introduction to Paper Stenciling - 1 colour print
Learn how to coat a screen. Look at ways of making marks and transfer these to a screen using the exposure unit.
Using your designs from week 2 you will have a chance to experiment with colour.
Create a two colour design using acetate and learn a simple registration method.
Continue with two colour print, experimenting with colour and registration.

Materials and Equipment
Demonstration or materials for experimentation will be provided free of charge but you may be required to purchase your own materials in order to complete your personal creative projects. Please wear old clothes/an overall or apron and strong, flat, closed-toe footwear. You need to bring drawing tools, a craft knife, a sketchbook and an apron.
Please note that all courses are subject to student numbers and will only run if sufficient numbers are achieved. Plymouth College of Art reserves the right to cancel a course if insufficient student numbers are recruited.
