Ocean Studios: Opportunity - Extended to all Alumni

By Sarah Packer

Ocean Studios is a new, specialist creative hub based in Plymouth's stunning Royal William Yard – set up by grads Jen Jayarajah and Leigh Mason, who met while studying a Masters degree at the college.

Since opening its doors in July 2015, Ocean Studios has been providing more than 30 studio spaces for a community of artists and creative practitioners. With a shop, exhibition space and workshops based on site, it's the perfect location to start and run a creative business in Plymouth.

We've established a partnership with Ocean Studios to support our graduates as they transition from study into the creative sector. We'll be providing a number of studio spaces and a package of business support opportunities to help you start your creative business.

These spaces are exclusively available to college graduates and offer a unique opportunity to be part of the creative community in Plymouth. The aim of the partnership is to support business start up, to enable graduates to remain in Plymouth and to develop in a thriving creative sector.

We will be making two studios available for a 12 month period. You can apply for a studio as an individual artist seeking sole use of the studio, as a collective of artists, or as an individual artist interested in sharing a studio.

A 50% subsidy will apply to the annual cost of the studio and this can be payable on a monthly basis. This equates to £54 - £106 per month depending on the number of artist sharing the studio.

Successful applicants will also be able to access a range of opportunities at the college to support the development of your business and practice including:

  • Discounts on short courses
  • Discounts on masterclasses
  • Access to studio resources
  • Public lecture programme
  • Access to exhibition private views

All Plymouth College of Art alumni are eligible to apply for this opportunity. Alumni from all subject disciplines can apply.

Email your applications to by 5pm on Friday 11th September.
