£1000 Cash Scholarships for Pre-Degree students starting a degree in 2020

By Phillip Buchan

We want to retain the best creative talent in Plymouth and know that Pre-Degree study at Plymouth College of Art offers an excellent preparation to succeed at one of our creative undergraduate degrees.

That’s why we’re now offering a one-off £1000 cash scholarship to students who progress directly from completing one of our Extended Diplomas or a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design onto a three or four-year undergraduate degree in September 2020 at Plymouth College of Art.

There is no application process for this scholarship and it is not based on household income. Eligibility will be checked by our Admissions team, provided that you meet minimum expectations for attendance when you start your degree and attainment at Pre-Degree level study. The scholarship will be paid automatically to all qualifying students in one instalment of £1000 during the second semester of study, in early March 2021.

Once an application through UCAS has been successful and a student has enrolled they’ll be eligible for the £1000 cash scholarship if they achieved either a Merit or Distinction in their Pre-Degree study with us. Alternatively, students who achieve a Pass in their Pre-Degree study will also need to be awarded a Green Traffic Light for their final Academic and Character progress checks. If this applies to you, please speak directly to your subject leader if you have any questions.

The scholarship will be paid automatically in early March 2021 to eligible students that have met a minimum of 80% attendance. The Internal Progression Cash Scholarship does not have to be repaid and will be available in addition to the BA Final Year Bursary, currently £300 paid in your final year. The BA Final Year Bursary is available to UK students, subject to household income.

Why continue your study at Plymouth College of Art?

Our graduates work as filmmakers for the BBC, design merch for the Rolling Stones and Rita Ora, work as Creative Developers for Apple and Playstation and capture content for Nike and Adidas.

We’d love to help you continue your professional journey into the UK’s world-leading creative industries, the fastest-growing part of the UK economy. The UK's creative industries contributed £101.5 billion in gross value added (GVA) in 2018 – greater than automotive, aerospace, life sciences and oil and gas sectors combined. In fact, there were 3.2 million jobs in the UK creative economy in 2018, with creative industries businesses now accounting for 11.9% of all businesses in the UK.

If you have questions about which degree may be right for you, want to know about student accommodation or our international industry connections, why not come to our next Open Day at our Tavistock Place campus on Saturday 8 February 2020 from 10am to 4pm, to meet lecturers and students and find out more about your chosen specialism.

You can also chat with our friendly Admissions team about personal tours and meeting our course leaders by emailing liaison@pca.ac.uk or calling 01752 203400.
