"You know that table at a wedding where all the difficult to place get put, the awkward squad, the odd bods and the distant, the disapproved of…? Invited, but now how do they all get on together? Then they get talking and all sorts of things begin to emerge."
This is how Bristol-based contemporary artist Kit Poulson teased his latest exhibition 'The Guests', an intriguing and unsual collection of paintings and soundworks exhibiting in the Gallery as part of the annual South West Showcase, which launched last week.
City art enthusiasts (plus a good few of our own students) turned up in their numbers for the launch of 'The Guests', with the opportunity to meet the artist (and enjoy a free drink or two) proving a hit.
Kit, who studied History in Edinburgh and Fine Art at Middlesex University, works across a range of media with a particular interest in painting and writing.
'The Guests' is in the Gallery open to students and members of the public until Saturday 14th February. See this event listing here.
Part Two of the South West Showcase kicks off next month with a solo show for Marie Toseland. The South West Showcase also sees a number of artist talks and screenings.
