Illustrator Caroline Morgan has celebrated her Graduation in style – after being invited to exhibit at the prestigious London Design Festival.
Caroline, a 2014 alumni of our BA (Hons) Illustration programme, was selected to show at last month’s annual event by Designersblock.
“I’m absolutely thrilled to be exhibiting with Designersblock and feel very privileged to be in the company of so many talented designers,” Caroline told Arts Thread in an interview.
“I didn't approach Designersblock myself, but because I'm a member of Arts Thread, who they collaborate with for this show, my name was put forward to them and I was lucky to be selected. It came as a complete surprise!”
Caroline exhibited three illustrated books at the show, which were made during the final year of her course at the college.
Caroline said: “Personally I am hoping that my books will show that poetry can be enhanced by being illustrated, something that is not often seen with adult poetry.
“I’m also really looking forward to meeting people and doing lots of networking, plus of course seeing lots of amazing work during the festival!”
Caroline added that her time at the college has really helped her professional practice and given her confidence going forward as an illustrator.
“During the last three years we have always been encouraged to enter competitions and have an online presence so this has definitely helped me to prepare for life after College,” she said.
“I have learnt so much from all my tutors and in regards to setting up our Illustration shops, the Summer Show and New Designers, Mel [Brown, Programme Leader] has always made sure we did it to a very high standard and this has definitely helped me how to present my work at The Old Sessions House where the show takes place.”
