ARTiculation, the national public speaking competition which promotes and supports young people to look, think and speak about art, will hold the South West Regional Final at Plymouth College of Art on Tuesday 5 February 2019, 1 – 3:30pm.
The Regional Final will see students aged between 16 - 19, delivering ten-minute presentations about a work of art, architecture or an artefact of their choice in front of an audience and an adjudicator.
Schools and youth groups taking part are Plymouth College of Art, Liskeard School & Community College and Cornwall’s Regimental Museum’s Young Curators.
Adjudicating this regional final will be London-based Architect, Jamie Fobert. Since establishing Jamie Fobert Architects in 1996, Jamie has consistently produced innovative, inspiring and award-winning architecture.
This year’s regional finals will take place at an array of England’s top museums and galleries including: The BALTIC, The Whitworth, The Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, Folkestone Quarterhouse, Plymouth College of Art, The Ashmolean Museum, New Art Centre, Spike Island and The National Gallery. The winning students from each regional final will be invited to present at the Grand Final at Clare College, Cambridge, which will be adjudicated by Dr. Tristram Hunt, Director of the V & A Museum.
Each year sees over 1,000 students entering The ARTiculation Prize in England, and it is widely recognised by schools, universities, museums and galleries for giving young people the opportunity to research, communicate, express and present their ideas.
