Meeting the Archive — Exhibition

Join us at the opening of Meeting the Archive, the PhD exhibition of artist and BA Fine Art Programme Leader Steven Paige, on Thursday 17 January 2019, 5-8pm in The Warehouse.

Anglo-American artist Steven Paige brings together new and existing work exhibited together here for the first time. Focusing on instructive footage he negotiates his way through institutionalised collections, their digital counterparts and the expanding and ceaseless online equivalents. Paige’s approach seeks and sometimes forces relationships between the found artefacts and himself. He deliberates on the destabilising effect where the archivist, librarian or specialist is not present and you are left to generate your own relationships within an archive. Meeting the Archive takes a playful approach to the performing body re-enacting and translating the archive, where Paige’s wry preoccupations around instruction, betterment and identity are played out.

Can't make it to the opening? Don't worry the show runs from Friday 18 to Saturday 26 January 2019 and is free and open to the public.
