Before you decide where you would like to study and what course is right for you, it’s helpful to attend an online event and speak to real staff and students about your options. If you are an International student wondering what it is like to live and study in the UK, why not come along to our next International Online Open Event: Living and Studying in the UK, taking place from 11.00-12.00 on Wednesday 16 September 2020.
This session will be hosted by Dr Mark J.P. Kerrigan, our Dean of Learning & Teaching. As a senior and highly experienced academic, Mark has taught, mentored and worked with students from around the world - from undergraduate, Masters to PhD. Two of Mark’s doctoral students have researched international education and student experience and a third is studying curriculum design and digital capabilities in Nigeria. Mark will be joined by Cynthia Hart, one of his doctoral students and senior lecturer, and Harriet Moore our Students’ Union President.
"Studying internationally is an exciting and transformative experience which will change the course of a student’s life - academically, professionally, and personally. Through their own experiences and interests, each student enriches our curriculum and are immediately part of our creative community - I view the internationalisation academic programmes an essential as part of this.
"In this session, I will explore my experiences of working with international students and how I, and colleagues, work to support their future success. I will talk about preparation, starting studies, challenges + solutions, and the importance of making the most of opportunities. Importantly, the focus on this talk will be the audience and answering any questions they may have." - Dr Mark J.P. Kerrigan
