First year Extended Diploma Art and Design students hosted an exhibition of their work in Studio 11 this week.
The exhibition, entitled Out of this World, was packed to the brim with family, friends and members of the public who had come to see the drawings, paintings, sculptures and sketchbooks of these young artists.
“It is a great chance to show the work we have done so far and it’s been fun setting up the exhibition and seeing everyone come in and enjoy it” said Jack Packer, an ED Art and Design student.
The show was a chance for students on the two year course - which provides a practical introduction to materials, techniques and processes to develop an understanding of contemporary creative thinking - to exhibit their work from the first term.
Student Lucy Carr said, “It’s great to see everyone’s work together and hearing people come in and compliment our work is really nice”.
The walls of the studio were adorned with selected work from the students most recent projects – covering various mediums and topics from self portraiture and life drawings to abstract sculpture and propaganda posters from various eras.
“It’s gone really well so far and it’s good to allow people from outside the studio to come in and see what we are doing,” said Ellie Oldreive.
