The Agency

Our in-house Agency is a space where external businesses and organisations pitch paid live projects and briefs for undergraduate students to work on.

Beyond providing direct industry experience, The Agency prepares students for a higher level of creative employment upon graduation, or to become independent practitioners within their field.

The Agency is a distinctive, innovative and supportive creative platform, encouraging artistic experimentation, entrepreneurship and nurturing home-grown talent. Take a look at The Agency brochure below to see some of the work created by our students.

Projects can be as diverse as the student talent available, and can include branding, web design, print, film, animation, editorial, fashion, illustrations, photography, graphic design, home and lifestyle products and accessories.

In a reflection of the ethos of the college itself, The Agency also encourages a spirit of cross-disciplinary working; game arts students create 3D graphic illustrations and design concepts for physical products, commercial photography students collaborate with graphic design students, and illustrators work with animators.

BA (Hons) Graphic Design students Allie Couch and Jamie Wynn pitch designs for the Sherford Project.

We encourage our clients to consider us as a true creative partner, and so each interaction with The Agency begins with a conversation about the project you have in mind.

As a client you will work directly with a dedicated project manager who takes time to understand the project and identify the right talent from the Plymouth College of Art creative pool.

Our package includes professionally project managed student talent and a transparent pricing policy.

Services Available

A range of different design services are available through the college, depending on the needs of the client and the brief requirements, as well as the client's available budget.

If you do not have any budget available, your brief can be shared with the relevant course or programme of study to see if they are able to undertake this opportunity within the curriculum delivery. Your brief can also be shared with all of our undergraduate students via our job wall. In this case, any individual in the college could take this opportunity up, however you will need to manage the project yourself.

In both above instances, please submit your brief to our Careers & Enterprise team via

If you have a budget available, an undergraduate will be appointed to this project with the Agency manager overseeing and managing the work in consultation with the client. Please note, our undergraduates are emerging creative practitioners, who are recognised for their professional service and paid fees for their work. Our day rate is £150 (+ VAT) and our half day rate is £80 (+ VAT).

Student Testimonials

“Being part of The Agency allowed me to work and interact with real clients while still studying. Having the opportunity to engage and produce work for the outside world prepared me for the industry. Also having that experience really gives you an edge when you’re applying for that first job. It’s a fantastic opportunity that Plymouth College of Art provides!”
