Hidden Talent in Devon

Hidden Talent in Devon is a new project that provides opportunities for people from diverse backgrounds to access higher level skills, as a means of widening participation in Higher Education. Funded by the European Social Fund, the project brings together educational partners across Devon to deliver outreach, engagement and skills development activities in a variety of fields.

As a partner on the Hidden Talent in Devon project, Plymouth College of Art will offer creative learning opportunities that aim to enable a broader spectrum of people to access workshops, training and development opportunities, and short courses.  The project will also give participants the chance to sample the courses, teaching and arts-practice expertise available at the college, as well as its state of the art facilities, such as Fab Lab Plymouth, our fully equipped digital fabrication laboratory.

Varying from light-touch taster days and hands-on short courses in creative subjects including illustration, graphic design and photography, to skills-based training courses like 2D and 3D design and manufacturing, Hidden Talent in Devon activities will support participants’ educational progression, employability and professional development.  In order to maximise the project’s reach within areas of the community least likely to engage with higher level skills, Hidden Talent in Devon will be delivered both on site at Plymouth College of Art, as well as within outreach and engagement activities across the city.

The Hidden Talent in Devon project is unique as it give the college the freedom to take our creative industry expertise to a new audience and become more diverse, accessible and engaging, whilst encouraging more people to explore new higher level skills and challenge themselves creatively.
