This course will enable learners to develop basic skills within Adobe Photoshop; the worlds premiere image manipulation software. It is aimed at beginners, or those with only a basic knowledge of Photoshop CS4 and who wish to improve their skills. Learners will be guided through a succession of techniques and processes which will cover all the essential elements of the software. Upon conclusion candidates will be familiar with all of the necessary aspects of basic image editing and design.
Interface and tools, cropping, rotating, colour modes, selection tools, working with layers, standard and artistic text, filters, painting and brush tools, image resizing & resolution, scanning and digital cameras, colour correction and adjustment, making selections, retouching, masking, lighting, saving for web.
This course is qualification based and your achievement will be assessed. This will mean a small amount of work to evidence achievement. The qualification is an NCFE level 1 award.
Entry requirement: An interest in using Adobe Photoshop for image creation/manipulation. Ideally candidates should also possess a basic understanding of the Windows or Apple operating system, and possess simple (non-design related) computer skills.
What you need to bring: Students must bring a means of storing their work such as a USB memory stick and a sketch/note book. Please note there may be an additional materials charge when you start but this will be explained to you by the lecturer.
