Introduction to Graphic Design at Plymouth College of Art
Description
This course aims to enable learners to develop basic graphic design and craft skills within the context of existing and developing technologies. And intends to provide learners with an underpinning knowledge of the processes and principles of successful visual communication. The course will also facilitate students with the opportunity to generate a portfolio of their design work, which would be highly advantageous if planning to progress further in graphic education.
Learners will explore corporate logo, letterhead and business card design, brochure/poster design, typography, layout, colour theory, creative Idea development and problem solving, use of design related computer software, designing for web.
Entry requirement: An interest in graphic design and a willingness to use computer based design software such as Adobe Photoshop. Ideally candidates should also possess a basic understanding of the Windows or Apple operating system, and possess simple (non-design related) computer skills.
What you need to bring: Students must bring a means of storing their work such as a USB memory stick and a sketch/note book. Please note there may be additional materials charges when you start the course but this will be explained to you by the lecturer.
