I have 16 years of teaching experience and have led Digital Graphics and Interactive Media course (2003-09) at Plymouth College of Art at National Diploma level.
Previously, I have also managed the HND Multimedia programme, GNVQ Art and Design and A Level Graphic Design at South Birmingham College, Digbeth Centre for Digital Media and Leicester College. As well as, leading the Graphics area on a Foundation programme at Coventry University.
My early teaching experience have involved lecturing within other disciplines such as on HNC Graphic Design, HND Performing Arts, HND Photography, HND Media and Communication.
I have a BA Hons. in Graphic Design and my MA Computing in Design research consisted of exploring interactive installation system – ‘Samsara Computer Natyam’, a system designed for a multimedia performance, an integration that detected dance movement on stage through ultra violet light to output live motion projection via the use of computer technology.
I had developed “Your Place Or Mine” and “KG Design for Living - Design Led Interior Products” based in Birmingham and Leicester. This was set up to support and work with new generation of British Designers as collectives to promote exclusive design led products, and also incorporating one off’s sourced antiques and furniture from around the globe to promote traditional skills and talents.
I am interested in exploring and developing the role of contemporary Graphic Design in Education and Professional Practices. This inquiry has allowed me to visit several design education institutions in UK and abroad.
I am constantly intrigued, fascinated and inspired by influences of practices such as Print, Typography, Product, Motion, Interactive, Installation Design, Motion generated Information and Branding, Architecture, Fashion, Interior and Textile Design to name a few and how aspects of these disciplines have become an integral part of research within the contemporary Graphic Design work. These have all informed and allowed me to explore and discover new possibilities for effective visual communications within contemporary Graphic Design practices, through an interchange of skills, processes and conceptual thinking.
At present I have aspiration to develop in-house live projects studio set up within the curriculum, which should allow new graduates to have a bridge and a platform into their next professional working careers.

I am an image-maker obsessed with discarded books, abandoned photographs and seemingly random pieces of ephemera. The exploration of juxtaposition to transform the use, meaning and interpretation of the things I find is a recurring theme and I tend to use a variety of media to get the job done, from drawing, painting, collage and photography to digital image-making and printing. I studied in Bath for my BA(hons) Graphic Design and MA in Visual Culture and I’ve been teaching both theory and practice since 1999 having long since decided that working alongside the next generation of Illustrators & Image makers was exactly where I wanted to be.
