Level 0 Interdisciplinary art and design at Plymouth College of Art

The Level 0 Extended Degree programme is a preparatory year for students who have completed their school or college education or have been out of education for a while, Know which specialist degree program they wish to pursue and who have the required AS or equivalent A-level qualifications but who don't have sufficient prior experience for entry straight on to the FD or BA programmes.  The programme will support you to build a broad range of art design and media skills, essential as the basis for access to you specialist degree. Upon successful completion of your Level 0 Extended Degree you automatically progress to the first year of your chosen BA or FD at Plymouth College of art.

You will learn through experimentation, exploration and discovery. This is a course that is transitional in experience and intention and will encourage you to be receptive and responsive to new ideas and ways of thinking and learning. It will introduce you to a range of media, materials, resources and equipment and encourage creative manipulation. Drawing is also seen as a key developmental skill and you will follow a drawing programme to enhance and maximise your portfolio and ambitions.

The programme is structured in such a way that you will overtime be inducted and sample a wide range of discipline areas across the college. You will develop an understanding of the design process, which will underpin your future development. As the program progresses you will undertake assignments in your specialist area, which will enable your smooth transition into the 1st year of your Degree. Our ultimate aim is for you to become creative, confident, independent and successful students and to prepare you to progress and achieve at the highest level possible.
