Plymouth College of Art is the only college in the South West to achieve a Silver Award from Investors in People.Silver status is given for going over and above the minimum requirements and the College excelled in over 76 standards by investing in staff.
The College’s Principal, Lynne Staley-Brookes, said: “I am delighted the success continues College-wide, and to achieve this overwhelmingly positive Investors in People Silver Award is a strong endorsement of many student success stories.
“The positive developments that continue to take place, and which have been significant, are down to a team approach and passion for art and design education for the benefit of our students.”
The Investors in People report by assessor Julie Luscombe stated: “There is excellent respect and trust for Managers, which has been earned through delivering what was promised, so managers practice what they preach and get involved in team events to encourage and support their staff.
She went on to say: “There are excellent opportunities to be involved in decision-making, consultation is always present and staff feel their views are important.”
Head of Human Resources, Wendi Smith, added: “Teamwork in the College is very strong, and in part what makes so many people enjoy working for the College.”
“It is a thriving, bustling College where teaching staff are drawn from the widest range of art and design disciplines and most are established practitioners, artists, designers and makers, so we are all delighted with the award.”
The Investors in People award is valid for up to three years and was presented at a ceremony at the China Fleet Club.
