How to apply

This section will give you information on how to apply for Further Education courses at Plymouth College of Art. For students who wish to apply for a degree programme, please go to How to Apply for a degree programme.

For post-GCSE courses such as the BTEC Extended Diplomas and for the Foundation Diploma you can apply online by selecting your chosen course within the course area and clicking on the 'apply online' option.

Applications can be made at any time during the year, with most interviews taking place between February and June.

The application form asks for details of your previous qualifications and any relevant work experience. The form also provides you with an opportunity to inform us of any learning difficulties or disabilities you may have, so that we can offer you appropriate support.

Part-time Study

If you wish to study part-time on one of our courses please contact Sharon Betts in Admissions on 01752 203402 to request a paper application form.

Interviews and Portfolios

Although your application form will provide us with background information about your qualifications and previous experience, studying the Arts is about so much more than that.  We want to see your creative potential, ability and passion and for this reason you may be invited to attend an interview and show us a portfolio of your creative work.

The interview will provide you with an opportunity to talk about your aspirations, what inspires you and why you want to study at Plymouth College of Art. It also gives us a chance to explain what we, as a College, can offer you. By showing us your portfolio we will be able to consider your specific interests and abilities which will help us, and you, decide whether Plymouth College of Art is the right place for you to study.

The College aims to respond to all applicants within two working weeks with an interview date and time. Most interviews take place on week-days so please bear this in mind.

Advisory Interviews

Advisory interviews are there to help. If you need guidance, further information or would just like to talk through your options, these interviews offer the perfect opportunity.

Held with a member of the College Advisory Team, you will be given advice about the area of Art and Design that may be suitable for you and how to develop your portfolio for interview. It is advisable to bring along any creative work that you may have.

To book an advisory interview please contact the Info Point on 01752 203434 or email infoservices@plymouthart.ac.uk
