Higher Education and Degree Courses at Plymouth College of Art

We have designed our art and design degree programmes to give you choice and flexibility, and equip you with the knowledge and skills needed for a career in the creative industries.

Extended Foundation Degree Level 0

The Extended Foundation Degree Level 0 experience has been created so that you can start a degree early, at the age of 17, or join a degree programme without prior experience in your chosen subject. They provide a 3 year Foundation Degree experience that are an extension of the College’s two year full-time Foundation Degree programmes.

Foundation Degree - 2 years full-time/4 years part-time

An Art Foundation Degree is a two year qualification combining work experience with your studies. These programmes are very hands-on, so if you want to learn lots of new skills and techniques, you have come to the right place!

BA (Hons) Programme - 1 year full-time or 2 years part-time

Upon successful completion of an art foundation degree or HND, we offer a one year BA programme. The one year BA programme allows you to specialise in a particular area and undertake a final major project. For example, we have just launched an underwater photography course, the BA in Underwater and Surface Based Imaging.

Applicants to the final BA (Hons) qualification may need to take a bridging module* to prepare them for this final year of study. These modules have been designed for those who have already completed a Foundation Degree or HND in a relevant area but have been out of education for a while, or for those who may have undertaken a degree programme in a subject which is not directly linked.
