Enabling work has now commenced for the exciting and much needed external improvements and branding to the Tavistock Place Building, Gallery, entrance and Foyer and Information Services.

The project officially started on 8th March. From this date there will be no access into the College via the front entrance.

The new "main" entrance and temporary Information Point reception will be from the courtyard entrance via the rear car park from Regent Street. All signage for staff, students and visitors will be in place accordingly.

The project will be completed in full by mid August. However the Gallery, Information Point and front access will be in place in time for the "End of Years Shows" in early June.

I will ensure that regular updates are posted to MyPortal, Moodle, the College's website, internal e-mail and Plasma screens as required.

This is an exciting further building improvement for the College and one which will be managed with Health, Safety and Security at the top of the agenda. It is very important that we all share this responsibility. Please adhere to all guidance signage realising that from time-to-time access, for example, to the Studio Theatre, front lift, Counselling, Student Finance will remain accessible at all times but adjustments will need to take place as the project progresses.

The project will be led internally by Dave Penn the new Head of Estates and Facilities dpenn@plymouthart.ac.uk

Please be assured that it is the senior teams aim to ensure minimum disruption. No student or course/programme should be adversely affected. Out of hours contractor work will be managed as much as possible to minimise noisedisruption - but there will be some as the external fabric of the building will be drilled - and the effect will be carefully monitored. Similarly all the windows are being replaced which will mean there has to be a very tight programme for clearing studios and workshops. Again a schedule will be managed to minimise disruption.

All feedback is very welcome. As ever please feel free to contact me on principals_pa@plymouthart.ac.uk or pop in to see me.

Your help and positive contributions over the next few months will be much appreciated,.
