Plymouth is more than just a city… it is a great place to study in and live - and with over 30,000 students living in the city, there is always plenty to see and do!
With a population of over 250,000 people, Plymouth is the biggest city in Devon and has the largest number of businesses and shops in the region. It also looks set to grow even further as it is currently undergoing a massive re-development. The introduction of a cultural quarter, and developments to the waterfront are just a few of the exciting things happening to Plymouth.
Plymouth is well known for its location and close proximity to the sea and the beautiful coastline of Devon and Cornwall as well as near Dartmoor National Park. Being in this ideal location means there are plenty for things to do in and around the city. So if you fancy a bit of shopping, there is Drake Circus shopping mall but also, the historic Barbican where shoppers can browse through a variety of small independent stores, including antique shops and art galleries. Interested in sea-life? There is also the National Marine Aquarium and for those who wish to see the sea, take a walk upon onto the Hoe and see Plymouth Sound as well as the outdoor art deco pool, Tinside Lido.
Plymouth has one of the best city environments in the UK. Its low crime rates, vibrant waterfront nightlife and friendly locals make Plymouth a great place to live or visit.
